Late 'Crazy' Easter Photo's

So I attempted a photo shoot on Easter day with the ratties, the chocolate eggs were to hard to resist for Crazy!   

 Crazy realised she could get to the chocolate by tearing off the foil.

Ummm yummy chocolate! 

A very rare sweet treat for Crazy, I had to take the egg away as she would have eaten the whole thing.

New use for old socks!

So earlier today I was reading the posts on the Rat Shack and there was a topic about covers of ramps/ladders and how to make them etc. 

I have read some horror stories were rats have got their leg/legs caught in the ramps/ladders and have broke their leg or caused scary injuries, I want to prevent this so I was considering sawing my own covers but...!

The lovely Cinderwolf from the Rat Shack mentioned that she uses tube socks to cover the ramps/ ladders, what a genius idea!

I knew I had quite alot of holey knee high socks in the back of my sock draw so I went and got them and they fit perfect.

What a perfect new use for old socks plus it's a great way to brighten up your cage!

Crazy didn't care much of the change the the ramps/ladders but poor Shy-one was very apprehensive and cautiously walked down them she is slowing getting use to them now.

So the Rat Shack held a St Patrick's day photo competition, these are the photos I submitted.

I could only do the Photo shoot with the girls as the boys are still recovering from being neutered on Wednesday. 

What a challenge it was to get items Irish related so I ended up making props for the photos. The girls would no cooperate in the photo shoot, its funny as my imagination ran wild with ideas, working with my speedy monster rats didn't allow it to happen lol!

So I thought I could use the image to make a face cut out board similar to what you'd find at a British sea side.

The girls didn't like to put their heads through the hole, so I had to entice them out with a treat!

So today I went to give the rats a treat, I handed Shy-one a treat and crazy wasn't in the igloo with her she was in the flower pot hut, where I noticed red splatters on the side of the hut. I then looked around the cage and noticed that the igloo had red splatters inside too. I checked Crazy and she had red all over her nose.

I thought it was liquidy Porphyin but i posted a photo on the Rat Shack and the members there told me it was blood. I'm going to check her breathing as it could be related to a URI (upper respiratory infection).
I'll have to keep a close eye on her, if it gets any worse I'll have to take her to the vet.

AVENTURA METAL CAGE

I purchased the Aventura cage in the January sale from LittlePetWarehouse. 

I've had it for just over a month now I must say my girls are loving it!

I found it was a pain to build as there are no instructions just a silly diagram that makes no sense! There are a few things that are annoying about the cage but are easily sorted with zip ties. The base wheel unit is not screwed to the cage so you have to be careful the way you move the cage, but zip ties can help hold it together. There is no shelf on the wheeled unit also the wheels have no breaks. 

The good things about it are the size obviously its huge! The locks are great there will be no escapees.

 Once the boys are neutered they will be joining the girls in this huge cage of fun.
